A look back at ‘eleven
I thought a sort of reflective post on the past year would be appropriate before my new semester begins on the 3rd. 2011 has been a very eventful year, full of ups and downs but mostly ups.
- Worked downtown at PwC. Great co-workers, good schedule, got back into the gym, a pretty good semester.
- Explored parts of downtown. Enough not to get completely lost when on my own. Had loads of help getting to this point
- Spring semester was fun! To be or not 2B
- Fall semester was eventful. Started off a bit on a rough note, but then it got better eventually:
- Worked at Bell Canada, which allowed me to learn loads about networking, and gain real technical knowledge of the field
- Gave me time to explore and consider different career paths (settling on, HOPEFULLY, biomedical engineering in the near future)
- Awesome cruise, awesome birthday, awesome after-gym coffees, awesome broken chairs, awesome dinners, awesome TTC rides (both new and old trains, but the new ones have lost their shine), awesome bowling/dosa/chilling, awesome skating (or rather learning to skate), awesome hanging out. Awesome.
- So glad I could make regular 3-times-a-week visits to my gym
- Made a lot of personal progress with religion and spirituality. Learned a lot about myself, and explored Islam in a less conventional sense. Started reading the Qur’an in English.
- Read a variety of things on different topics. Religion, science, world issues, medicine, etc.
- Moved to a new, much larger, house.
- Developed an assortment of small electronic projects using the Arduino. Very interesting and fun stuff.
- Discovered Second Cup hot chocolate. The best hot chocolate known to man
Very eventful year. iA, the next year will be just as good. I looked back at the end-of-year post I made last year, and I’m pretty happy that I was able to meet all my resolutions. Sooo, in hopes that I do the same in 2012, I will make some for next year too:
- Continue going to the gym regularly, and continue picking up good things from people around me
- Keep reading. That was one of the best things I started doing more regularly this fall, and I need to continue it. It’ll help me build strong personal opinions on an assortment of topics
- Keep a healthier budget. Aim and try to maintain a 100 dollar spending cap per month
- Continue to build and improve relationships with important people in my life (friends and family)
- Do something on a regular basis to help the community
